At 4am this morning the fire alarms in the building started going off!  I knew as soon as they started that the concierge was going to announce that there was an “alarm situation” on the 31st floor.  These “alarm situations” always seem to happen there.  They also happen a lot at really odd times when no one should be cooking.

There appears to be a trend in home made dog food and canine cuisine classes. Surely this can be tied to the massive recall that started in March 2007 that involved multiple brands. It certainly feels safer to use ingredients that you buy at regular grocery stores selling human food.

It’s perfectly fine to supplement commercial dog food or switch to home made dog food for a while, either because your favorite dog food brand is missing on the shelves or because your furry friend is suffering from stomach upsets or recovering from an illness.

I posted in March about the horrible cat cullings taking place in Beijing to “clean up” the city before the Olympics this summer. If you don’t recall, China is inhumanely killing the city’s cats (whom they allege have SARS) by rounding them up and putting them in death camps to die slow, miserable deaths from starvation, dehydration, filth, and poor medical conditions.

If you are looking for a dog that is affectionate, gentle, sporty, clean, and performs very well on the track and/or in the show ring at the same time, then the Whippet is the perfect dog to add to your family. He is an excellent watchdog, good with children, and looks extremely elegant, which also makes him a fine show dog. The ideal height for the male Whippet is 18 ½ in and the ideal height for the female Whippet is 17 ½ in.

Congratulations to Rick Rutt of our Sit Means Sit Pennsylvania location, for winning the Ring 3 cup, and is the Ring 3 National Grand Champion for the 2nd year in a row in the sport of Ringsport. Dogs are not allowed to have training aids of any sort on their dogs at competitive dog sports, and this is a great rule for reliability testing in dog arenas. To learn more about having dogs respond more reliably without training aids: ie, clickers, food, choke chains, multiple commands, remote collars etc, you can refer to this article. This years championship was held in Chicago Illinois.
