For a long time now, we had been feeding our dogs Beneful thinking that we were giving our dogs good, healthy food.  While it is not the worst food out there, I was surprised when I actually read the label and saw the number of ingredients I couldn’t identify, let alone pronounce!

We recently started feeding them a rice and lamb formula made by Nature’s Recipe.  A complete ingredient list and nutritional analysis for this food can be found at their website too.  I was afraid my dogs wouldn’t eat this because they never liked science diet and I was concerned that this food would be too bland for them. To my surprise, however, they love it.  They eat it all whether it’s dry or if I add a little canned food to it.

The Cold

For those of us that live in colder climates, make sure to keep a close eye on your dogs when taking them outside.  Things like dog boots and coats, while to some are silly, could bring great comfort to your dog and prevent them from freezing.  Also, when letting dogs out into the backyard, also keep an eye on how long they remain out there.  Not every dog is like a wolf, and some will freeze within minutes if it’s cold enough, much like we as humans would–though we can put on layers.  No one wants their dogs to freeze, so be wary!
