This is quite common, even in health, and there is, of course, the periodic flow of blood seen in the “in season” bitch. Maiden bitches often have a slight discharge and provided this remains scanty, and the bitch is well in herself, there is no need to worry. It is normal for a bitch to have a discharge after whelping, but this usually dries up in a couple of weeks or so. When it persists for four weeks or longer veterinary advice is advisable. Such a discharge may be weakening and could be associated with a low-grade local infection. Excessive haemorrhage after whelping may be due to lacerations resulting from a difficult birth. Whatever the cause, professional attention is needed.

Although pet insurance has been available for approximately 20 years, many pet owners have never heard of it and are surprised that such a thing would even exist. After all, insurance is for people, right? Well, if you have ever had to empty your savings account in order to pay for a pet’s surgery or if you have ever had to put a beloved pet to sleep because you couldn’t afford medical care, then you can absolutely testify to the usefulness and worth of pet insurance.

I am a dog with a job! I am the official studio mascot for Grind Music & Sound. It is always interesting to see how you name your dog and the topic of dog names is one that is very controversial. Most owners love to give their dogs a name that is very human like. For instance, Matthew or Andrew. Others will want to give the name based on their favorite movie characters or the book they read. For instance, Black Beauty or Cholera (although they are quite strange they are still real dog names). Discovering the best dog names for your best friend can be difficult although it should not and can be even fun. The biggest problem stands in the fact that we have a lot of possible choices and there is a big chance that you are looking for an unique dog name. You want one that will suit the dog’s personality while avoiding names that can be harmful. The key is making it fun.

My friend Lola came to the studio for a visit and I was very happy to see her again!

A Visit From A Friend.

Lola is a very cute bulldog.  I knew her when she was a puppy and now she is big. She liked sprawling out on the concrete floor just like me. It’s nice and cool there. I don’t know how she gets her back legs to go like that!

There comes a time in everyone’s life when you have to say goodbye to your loving pet.  It can be absolutely heart wrenching to let go of something that has been hopelessly devoted to you and your family through its entire life.  Most of us have been through this with our pets, maybe even several times throughout our lives, and it never gets any easier.  The decisions can be difficult trying to determine; are they really suffering?  Can I still see a glimpse of that spirit through the cataract in their eyes?

Summer is typically a time of great family fun and activity. The days are long and warm, the kids are on vacation, and the sun worshipers are out in full force. Unfortunately, the season also brings with it some very specific hazards - sunburn, heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Not only are these hazards a threat to your human family, they can endanger the lives of your furry family members as well. As temperatures soar, your dog will need a little attention in order to ensure his safety.
