Beef flavored chunks are available in addition to the beef flavored tablets or solutions that can be given orally to the dogs as a measure against the incidence of heart worms. Avoid mosquito bites by providing proper mosquito-proof shelter facilities to the dogs.
Just plan whether there is any need to go for the heart worm prevention though out the year or only in some months of the year. For example, in case of some countries, the mosquitoes may be dormant in most of the colder months.

I'm going to share a secret with you. Most of us would have at some point or the other, encountered a small dog on a leash that growls ferociously at us as we walk by. It will strain the chain, and make as if it was wishing it were free.
My personal experience shows that this is just a display of bravado! In most cases, if the dog is suddenly left off the leash, it will simmer down and pretend you're not there. This is specially true with small dogs. They seem to have a bit of a a complex, and feel that they have to prove that they're just as good as other dogs!

Most people when they see a Dachshund for the first time are struck by it's odd shape. Long like a sausage, with long flappy ears, they wonder, "Why on earth would anyone breed a dog like this?"
The reason is, that Dachshunds were bred as hunting dogs, and their long shape and low height makes them uniquely suited for tracking small game and plunging headfirst into tunnels!
True to their breeding, these dogs display an unusual thrill of hunting for small game. They will enjoy chasing them down through tunnels or through small places.
