When working with any police or search and rescue dog that trails or tracks, the handler should always be prepared to successfully prosecute their tracking/trailing cases in a court of law. As we all know, jury trials can always swing in either direction and juries can often be unpredictable. Therefore, I am not attempting to convey that all canine related cases can be successfully prosecuted in court. However, every handler should do all that they can to ensure that they have done everything that they can properly in order to make their testimony and evidence effective. With this being said you should understand that when dealing with any tracking or trailing case, there are two very important aspects that you should be prepared to prove.

I am so happy because my HM is back from her trip to Canada! I’ve been wagging my tail non stop and following her around all day. I told her all about the walks I took with my HD but I’m not sure she heard it because I had 3 tennis balls in my mouth. Here’s some more pictures from her trip.
Fluffy clouds over the prairies…

Let me start out by saying that dominance is not always a bad thing with puppies or adult dogs. It is simply a characteristic that separates some dogs from the rest. Look at it more as a personality than a problem. Dominance to the mildest degree is taking charge (not necessarily by beating up litter mates or house siblings) and becoming a leader or just being a little more bossy! You know this world would be a boring place if everyone was a follower. This world would also be a nightmare if everyone wanted to be in charge, with either spectrum nothing would ever get done in this world! The dog world is the same way, not every dog can be a leader, not every dog can do as they please, and not every dog can be passive. I will also add that the word dominace can be, and is commonly, over diagnosed with most behaviorial issues. There is no vacuum for the dominance diagnosis or any diagnosis for that matter, you simply have to look at the entire situation.

A dog’s jaw muscles are among his strongest. An average-sized Golden Retriever can untie the knot in a rawhide bone (or just chew it off) in minutes. If only they’d stick to those!
The tendency to chew will vary from one breed - and one individual - to another. But most dogs will chew on objects in and around the house. Keeping them focused on objects intended for them is a continuing challenge.
Younger dogs, puppies in particular, will usually have a greater tendency to chew and less discrimination about what they choose. But even young puppies can be discouraged from grabbing things the owner would prefer to keep whole.

Hi everyone, it’s me…Spencer! I’ve been away because it got very busy at the studio. And now my HD and I are flying solo because my HM is in Canada, in a province called Saskatchewan. So things are a little topsy turvy right now! HM is up there filming for the documentary she is working on. She says it’s chilly but not freezing and there’s no snow yet. She sent us some pictures of where she’s been working….

To understand dog training it is necessary to have some basic knowledge on how dogs think, learn and behave. A puppy decides whether or not he is going to repeat a behavior by the direct consequence of that behavior. If I behavior brings about a reward, either from you or the environment, the behavior is likely to be repeated. Similarly, if a behavior brings about an unpleasant consequence, chances are good that the puppy will not repeat the behavior.

Yorkshire Terriers are the second most popular dog in the United States, with the Labrador retriever being the most popular. This essentially means that the Yorkshire Terrier is actually the most popular small dog in the United States. Is this popularity why they cost so much?
Yorkshire Terriers can cost as little as $450 and as high as $5000 or even $6000. For such small dogs, those are pretty steep prices. Usually, the females cost more than the males, and puppies that are parented by champions cost thousands of dollars, if they also conform to all of the breed standards and have the markings of a champion.

When it comes to dogs, some people will advise you to get a male, rather than a female, and in some cases, to get a female rather than a male, based on varying facts and myths. However, when it comes to Yorkshire Terriers, if you simply want a pet or a show dog, and you have no intention of breeding the animal, are you better off with a male or a female Yorkshire Terrier? Well, before you get the cutest puppy in the litter regardless of its sex, realize that there is a difference between males and females that you must be aware of, other than their sex.
