Did you ever believe that dogs can surf? Almost 2000 spectators gathered at Imperial Beach in San Diego on the 29th of June to watch 60 dogs battle it out at the Loews Coronado Bay Resort Surf Dog Competition.

To cap it all, the dogs were complete with accessories like Sun Glasses, and life vest! The competition was won by the Jack Russel Terrier Zoey.

Dogs love to be touched, and there are several sweet spots that you can tickle and rub to make your dog happy. You will know you're succeeding by certain signs like a deep grunt at the back of his or her throat, or constant licking of the lips. They will also come and rub their head against you for more.

Hold the head in your hands gently, and using your thumb and forefinger, caress the ears, and stretch them out gently. Or you can use your left hand to hold the snout, and with your right palm, run it over the length of the nose.

I am taking a puppy break today…ok, I just pawed them off on the humans, BOL! Guess what? I got a package in the mail! Once I got home I opened it up….with a little help from the humans because it’s hard to open boxes with paws. Inside was 2 bowls from DogPause, a company that invented a bowl for dogs who eat too fast. Eating too fast can lead to bloat which can be deadly, so this is a GReat invention!

Here is an interesting Associated Press story concerning breed bans. Breed bans are very similar to racism. The video above shows a Pit bull that I used to have picking up all the trash in a park.

Dutch government to lift 25-year ban on pit bulls

The Dutch government says it will lift a long-standing ban on pit bulls because it did not lead to any decrease in bite incidents.

I will be leaving this afternoon to conduct three seminars in Brasil. The first dog training seminar will cover training for police patrol and protection. We will be covering drives and teaching skills such as, the out, recall and proper decoy techniques. The second seminar will cover advanced Search and Rescue Dog Training and will be a follow-up to the seminar the we taught last year. In this Search and Rescue Seminar, we will be teaching advanced techniques for S&R dogs and handlers. We are even planning rapelling with the dogs. The third and final seminar will be a three-day Police K-9 and SWAT applications course for the Brazilian Military. These seminars should be doth interesting and exciting and I am excited about being a part of them. We will have updates, photos and video form the seminar on the website soon, so check back often.

Things To Consider When Boarding Your Dog Before A Vacation

When you and your family go on vacation, you need to find a place for your dog to stay while you’re gone. Unless you have a normal boarding facility in which your board your dog, you’ll should prepare a few questions to ask prospective facilities. Lori Lebda and Tami Bergeson have hit the nail on the head (in my case anyways) with What Dog Are You? Discovering Your Inner Pooch. This book, fresh from the printing press, lets the reader explore his/her traits, abilities and personality and associate them with a breed of dog.

Based on three quizzes, the “Pooch-onality,” Dapper Dogs,” and “Biscuits or Bones,” a number value is assigned to you. Each quiz results in a specific breed type and those three are your “puppy genetic makeup.”

I don’t know how my husband stands to have Corona so close to his nose as her breath stinks and always has! This Dogo Argentino is often seen kissing Paul’s face or licking his ears and he just grins and bears it. I, on the other hand, would prefer not to be anywhere close to any dog’s tongue.

And here we have our cousin, Brian, who doesn’t mind the closeness to Corona at all.
