DOGGIE BROWNIES
3 to 3 1/2 lbs of liver, beef or chicken
1 C whole wheat flour
4.25 oz jar fresh minced or crushed garlic
2 C white flour
1/2 C corn meal
1 med shaker of grated parmesan cheese
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cover cookie sheet with foil, coat with cooking spray, sprinkle lightly with corn meal and set aside. Process liver and garlic in food processor or blender until it looks like milk chocolate. Pour into large mixing bowl and blend in the rest of the ingredients. Spread evenly onto cookie sheet (the mixture will be thick) and sprinkle lightly with corn meal. Bake until no pink is left. I usually bake them for about 30 min for one pan and then turn the oven off but leave the brownies inside until they are cool. Cut in pieces, and you’re done!!!
BASIC DINNER
# 2 cups cooked brown rice
# 8 ounces meat such as ground beef, ground turkey, chicken or organs such as hearts, liver etc.
# 1 cup lightly steamed ( 3 minutes) vegetables, I use frozen bags of assorted veggies, dogs like broccoli, carrots, cauliflower, spinach, kale.
# 2 tablespoons bone meal (available in health food stores, cheap!)
# 4 tablespoons ground flax seed or flax oil (available in health food stores in bulk)
# 1/2 cup raw grated apples or 1/2 cup blueberry’s
Method
1. Cook rice and cool.
2. Run vegetables through a food processor , just chop a bit, not mush, then steam vegetables and cool.
3. If using ground meats, cook till medium rare, then cool.
4. If using organ meat, run through food processor.
5. In a large bowl, add rice, meat, vegetables, bone meal, flax seeds or oil, apples or blueberries. Mix well and serve.
This will support the needs of a 50 pound dog for a day. I suggest making at least 4 times the above amounts, placing in zip bags and freezing what you will not use in 2-3 days. One week of feeding this instead of commercial dog food, and your dog will be visibly healthier and happier!
