This poem caught my eye...and I had to share it. It deals with something that is important to any dog lover: how to deal with the topic of dog attacks and the bad blood caused by the media...Food for thought!

" Punish the Deed, Not the Breed "
The driver should be punished for human error and for breaking the law,
So why cannot people see , the same applies to dogs and maybe even more?
A well-socialized and happy dog; well trained...shown kindness and love,

Paisley Dalmatians are owned by Dave and Sue MacMillan who are located at St. Paul, Minnesota. When Paisley Peterbilt completed his championship in March of 1985, he became the 50th conformation champion owned or bred at Paisley. And during that same month, Paisley’s QindaBritt became the 30th obedience Dalmatian to have earned a C.D. degree.
Although she was actually their fourth Dalmatian and third champion, champion Melody Up-Up and Away, more familiarly known as “Pooka,” is credited with being the true foundation of the Paisley breeding program, probably because she is to be found in the background of all but one champion carrying the Paisley name. All of the younger dogs are line-bred on this remarkable dog, some of them having as many as five crossed to her in their pedigrees.

Engaging in sports is not only for humans. It is also well-loved by our best friend, the dog. Dog sports do not only make a dog’s life fun, but healthy, as well. Here is a list of dog sports that you may want your dog to get involved into depending on his breed, of course.
Agility
This is when a dog moves through an obstacle course, i.e., contact obstacles, tunnels, jump, etc., as guided by his or her handler. What controls the dog is only its handler’s voice and body language. Without a leash, obedience training is the major requirement for a dog to enjoy this sport. Speed and accuracy are the names of this game.

I recently received an email from the American Kennel Club in response to their Survey for Mixed Breed Dog Owners. The American Kennel Club may soon offer more programs, activities and events for mixed breed dogs and owners. The survey asks a number of questions about dog ownership and activities of interest for both purebred and mixed breed dog owners. There is also a section of the survey that will ask your opinion of current dog legislation, i.e. breeding restrictions and breed specific legislation. The survey is simple and only takes a few minutes. I have personally taken the survey and encourage other dog owners to do so as well. The email is below.

The Small German Spitz is the smaller variety of the Great German Spitz (also known as Gross Spitz). The only difference between the two is in the size. Aside from that, characteristics and conformation are the same between the two breeds. The Small German Spitz is a beautiful, happy, alert, and a very intelligent little dog. He is an excellent guard and makes a great and loyal companion. He is very affectionate with his owners and suspicious with strangers. The Small German Spitz loves to bark, particularly when left alone for too long. As with all breeds, positive training and socialization is important and should start from puppy hood.

The Toy Poodle has a personality that is full of fun. He is obedient, intelligent, affectionate, and has a long lifespan. In the United Kingdom, this breed has proved himself to be a tough competitor in the obedience competitions. He also enjoys playing in water. This breed is very popular in the show ring where he boldly displays the traditional lion clip. This dog requires a fastidious method in canine beauty treatment that some owners and handlers claim that he is the most difficult breed to prepare for the show ring. He is a sensitive dog that is not ideal to be a child’s pet and gets noisy when left unchecked.
