I’ve been doing more research regarding commercial dog food, and I’ve been finding research done much earlier than this current recall that talks about how commercial dog food shortens the lifes of dogs. The chemicals they put in it are harmful to dogs, resulting in diseases appearing earlier than natural, and also commercial dog food does not contain all of the vitamins and minerals required for a healthy dog.

On August 3rd I received a very specific question about dog food. For privacy reasons I won’t copy the complete mail in this blog post but I’ll explain the question to you.
This dog lover previously ran a Labrador retriever kennel and is now faced with a French Bulldog (received as a gift) that has food problems. Symptoms are: runny stools, bloody endings to stools, spit up food and skin sensitivity issues. The owners have tried all kinds of premium dry kibble and finally went to prepare home made meals for their dog.

Pet food manufacturers have begun to discover that not only are there foods with wheat gluten dangerous, but also any foods made in the same plant, due to cross-contamination. Basically, this rules out most commercial dog food as safe.
Menu Foods previously recalled wet cat and dog food produced with adulterated wheat gluten supplied by ChemNutra Inc. Menu Foods just this week expanded the recall to include cuts and gravy and other products which do not include ChemNutra wheat gluten but which were manufactured at any of Menu Foods’ plants during the period that ChemNutra wheat gluten was used at that plant, due to the possibility of cross-contamination. They apparently received study results which indicate cross-contamination.
