Pet food manufacturers have begun to discover that not only are there foods with wheat gluten dangerous, but also any foods made in the same plant, due to cross-contamination. Basically, this rules out most commercial dog food as safe.
Menu Foods previously recalled wet cat and dog food produced with adulterated wheat gluten supplied by ChemNutra Inc. Menu Foods just this week expanded the recall to include cuts and gravy and other products which do not include ChemNutra wheat gluten but which were manufactured at any of Menu Foods’ plants during the period that ChemNutra wheat gluten was used at that plant, due to the possibility of cross-contamination. They apparently received study results which indicate cross-contamination.
