One look at this video, or a day hanging around the Sit Means Sit head franchise office in Las Vegas Nevada, makes it very clear that Sit Means Sit dog trainers have thousands of examples that our dog training system has thousands of examples where we have helped people with aggression tremendously. Misunderstanding of any training tool, and improper application would lead to things going sour no matter what the tool is. This is the same reason that a scalpel in the hands of a skilled physician, can save the life of many human beings, but doctors with less knowledge and experience, may not be able to save some of these lives. In either case, it’s not the tool at fault.

I always get a kick out of some wacky person taking a collar and putting it on their neck, and making the analogies of dogs and humans being the same. I could go on and on about this, but to save me the time of writing, I think it’s more educational to read this article on shock collar training, and then to be sure that you read mine, as well as all the other people’s comments that go with it.

When it’s all sorted out after that, you should be able to come to some sort of point-counterpoint conclusion. I’ve always felt these types of discussions are educational because although the author of the article is not very educated on the topic, he does represent a good number of people that feel the same way, and have the same lack of education.

Electronic fences are a control device. That said, electronic fences can be a blessing or a curse - not only for the dog but for the human as well. An ‘electronic fence’ is a set of devices, usually underground wire and transmitters, that deliver a noise, shock or unpleasant spray via a collar to a dog approaching the boundary. The wire is buried a foot or so under the ground along a perimeter of 500-1000 feet and as the dog approaches it a signal is sent to the collar, activating the deterrent.
