Officer Dan Holderman and K-9 Wulkan of the Butler Township Police Department recently graduated from their police canine handler school at Highland Canine Training, LLC. An investigation Tuesday into a drug-related incident in Pottsville led several local police departments to seize more than $11,000 worth of illegal drugs from a Saint Clair home and arrest a New York man on several drug-related charges.

From 9am - 5pm
During a typical day, campers receive humane education, workshops from veterinarians or animal experts, and several animal classes designed to foster a special appreciation for animals. Campers are placed in teams of eight with counselors assigned to each team. Camp cost is $225 and includes 2 snacks and lunch. Space is still available for both camps. Stop by and pick up a registration form at the front desk here at the shelter from noon to 7pm, Tuesday thru Sunday. The Labrador Retriever’s keen sense of smell and ability to train have earned him a place in many police and military forces around the world. During World War II, Labrador Retrievers were used throughout Europe to scout fields for undetected land mines. They were credited with many finds and exhibited a stick-to-it-iveness not found in other breeds that were tested for the job. They have also been trained as messengers to cover terrain that is all but impassable by man.
