I recently saw this article from the Washington Post about “Doggy Happy Hours” that are occurring in Old Town. These types of events are taking off more and more nationwide. Even in the Mooresville, Lake Norman and Charlotte areas there are more and more dog events all the time. There is even a popular “dog bar” in the Charlotte area. These events provide a valuable socialization opportunity for both dogs and their owners.
Corona knew the perfect present to give Paul for father’s day but it was just so perfect he already bought it himself. It was a Sirius Satellite Radio so that he could listen to Nascar from anywhere at anytime. It was the perfect gift for dad from Corona but he was already addicted to Sirius so Corona had to think of something else.
Twas the night after Christmas when all through North Pole Not a helper was stirring Not an elf nor a troll. The snowflakes were falling Out the window with grace In plans to have St Nicholas Storm stayed for days. Read the rest of this entry »
Let’s get the new year started off right! Here is a great video of Snowball, the awesome dancing parrot, and mascot for Bird Lovers Only.
You may have seen Snowball on Animal Planet’s special, The Year in Animals. If not, be sure to visit their site and learn more about the rescue efforts they are making on behalf of feathered friends!
Today is Independence Day here in the USA. That means parades and BBQs….mmmm. I love BBQs because that means I get chicken and I loooovvvve chicken. I am hoping to go to our neighborhood parade this morning if it is not too hot. It’s supposed to be 96F (35.5C) here in our part of Los Angeles today so I hope the parade is early. Tonight there are lots of fireworks and firecrackers. I am not scared of loud noises like those but many of my dog friends are so please take extra care of them today. Happy BBQing everyone!
When company comes to town we never know whether it’s best to leave Corona at home or to take her with us. It was very reassuring to see how quickly Brian, Paul’s cousin, took a liking to her.
Although some of the other cousin’s could have done without the visit from this Dogo Argentino Brian really enjoyed spending time petting (and licking?) her. When he left for Halifax for a few days we are told Brian couldn’t stop talking about her. With every Corona piece of attire he would miss her more and more.
Ask the average person to tell you whether a dog is happy or not, and they will advise you to look at its tail -- if the dog is happy, the tail is wagging. Yes. But this is only partly true. Some tail wags have totally different meanings. This can be especailly important in understanding canine body language.
- A rapid tail wag, where the tail swings from side-to-side in a not very large, but constant way, is actually a sign of excitement rather than pleasure. Read the rest of this entry »
Here we are on the last day of 2007 and I’m looking back on what a great year it was. It was my first full year with my adopted humans and what a year it was! We had lots of adventures together. I met lots of great clients working at the studio, went on many wonderful hikes, moved into a new house, started my blog, became a hospital pet therapy dog, made lots of new friends, got lots of treats, playtime, pets and love. I hope that 2008 will be a great year for all my friends, both human and canine, and that you have much love and pets in the new year. Happy New Year!
