Highland Canine Training, LLC would like to congratulate the new officers and board of directors for the Humane Society of Iredell. Many of the people elected were involved in the capital campaign that resulted in the construction of the Humane Society of Catawba No-Kill Animal Shelter and SNIP Regional Spay-Neuter Clinic in Hickory. One of the goals of this group is to build a shelter in Iredell County and to decrease the euthanasia rate. They plan to expand the usage of area low cost spay/neuter programs and seek ways to increase adoptions of animals. They also plan to hire an executive director to oversee daily operations with no cost to the Humane Society the first year. We look forward to working with these new officers and board members to continue to help the animals of Iredell County.

The Humane Society of Iredell and the Mooresville Parks and Recreation Department will be hosting its second annual Dog Walk and Dog Show. The event will be on Sunday, April 20, 2008, at 2:00 P.M., at North Main Park, 1474 N. Main Street, Mooresville, NC. This fun-filled event will include a dog walk starting at 2:30 p.m. A dog show will be open to the public and will begin at 4:30 p.m. with categories such as, best dressed dog, best looking and best trick. Vendors will be displaying products and services, demonstrations on dog training, seminars on pet care, adoption center and more. There will also be a raffle and prizes awarded for “Top Walkers” and “Best Dog”
