Which Type of Yorkshire Terrier Should You Adopt?
When you start looking at ads to find a Yorkshire Terrier, it is easy to become quickly confused. You will see ads that offer Toy Yorkshire Terriers, Miniature Yorkshire Terriers, Yorkie-Poos, Morkies, and even Parti-Colored Yorkies. Which one should you adopt?
First, let’s clear up some misconceptions. While there are numerous different types of Terriers, there is only one type of purebred Yorkshire Terrier. If a Yorkie is advertised as a toy or miniature, this does not mean that the breeder is breeding a special kind of Yorkie. This means that the Yorkie in question is smaller than average.

How to Train a Yorkshire Terrier
While Yorkshire Terriers are incredibly intelligent dogs that will easily learn tricks and such, it is believed that the Yorkshire Terrier is the hardest to housebreak. Housebreaking is probably the first thing that you want to teach your Yorkshire Terrier, and there is a right way and a wrong way to do this.
The first step is to confine your Yorkshire Terrier to a small space or small room, and to establish a place where it is acceptable for him to relieve himself. It is important that you teach your dog this immediately, and keep him confined until he is consistently using the appropriate area for relieving himself. From there, you can start taking him outdoors to relieve himself. Note that Yorkshire Terriers can be litter box trained as well, but it is important to clean out the litter box each day.

Why Do You Want a Yorkshire Terrier?
Yorkshire Terriers are small and cute. They are the second most popular dog in the United States, next to the Labrador Retriever. This essentially means that they are the most popular small dog in the United States. When you get a Yorkie of your own, it won’t take long to figure out why this is so, but why do you really want a Yorkshire Terrier?
It could be that you crave a lap dog. While Yorkshire Terriers are the perfect size to be a lap dog, they actually don’t prefer to be in your lap. They do want to be near you ?but not on you all of the time. If you are looking for a calm lap dog, a Yorkshire Terrier probably isn’t your best option.

Each year, Yorkshire Terriers go missing. Most of those are actually stolen, because these dogs are worth a great deal of money to a savvy thief. If you have not already considered Microchipping your Yorkshire Terrier, you absolutely must consider this immediately, and make arrangements to have this done.
On average, Microchipping can cost somewhere between $40 and $70, depending on the area where you live, and the microchip that you order, as well as whether or not you are injecting the microchip yourself or having it done for you. The small microchip contains a number, which when put into the computer system returns information about the dog and his owner, including your name, phone number, address, and the name and phone number of your veterinarian.
